MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, is set to host the World Summit for Executives in Semiconductor and Electronic Chips, today, December 9, 2025.

The three-day event will be held under the auspices of Dr Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.

It is organised in collaboration with the International Semiconductor Executive Summits and will include a total of 40 speakers, in addition to 25 working papers focused on building an integrated semiconductor industry ecosystem in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Furthermore, the summit is expected to be attended by more than 150 participants, including CEOs of semiconductor manufacturing companies, in addition to experts and specialists from around the world.

According to the Ministry’s spokesperson, the organisation of the event aligns with the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to diversify its economy by supporting knowledge-based economies.

The Sultanate of Oman has previously hosted the conference in February 2023, during which the organising body lauded Oman as the an ideal semiconductor hub in the GCC, stating,

“Oman is the perfect hub for the creation of semiconductor design and infrastructure in the GCC. It is home to a young, prosperous and highly educated population. In the global and regional hunt for tech talent, Oman will become a primary destination for leading tech companies establishing global development centres and for local champions expanding internationally”.

Oman has been directing its focus towards building a semiconductor industry. In 2024, the first Omani-designed chips — Oman-1 and Oman-2 — were developed in collaboration with GSME Oman, a local affiliate of global semiconductor leader GS Micro Electronics. Earlier this year, the Ministry invited consultancy bids for an advisory service contract to establish an integrated semiconductor production ecosystem, along with a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Semiconductors and Electronic Chips.
