

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik participated today in the 46th Summit of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held at Sakhir Palace in Manama. His Majesty attended the opening session of the summit alongside Their Majesties and Highnesses, leaders and representatives of the GCC states.
Earlier, His Majesty arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain to take part in the summit. He was received by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, who led the welcoming ceremony. His Majesty passed between two rows of the Bahraini Royal Guard before greeting senior officials, while the Crown Prince welcomed members of the Sultanate’s accompanying delegation. His Majesty later proceeded to the Sakhir Palace Guesthouse, where he is residing during the summit.
During the opening session, His Majesty joined GCC leaders as they reviewed key regional and international developments. His Majesty the King of Bahrain affirmed that the Gulf states have succeeded in establishing an integrated development model and continue to work collectively to address pressing global and regional issues.
The Amir of Kuwait stated that the GCC, through the awareness and unity of its people, has overcome complex regional and international challenges, achieving stability through shared security and a common destiny. He stressed that unity and collective action remain essential for navigating challenges and ensuring peace for future generations.
The Secretary-General of the GCC reaffirmed the Council’s firm position in support of establishing a Palestinian state and underscored the need for all parties to commit to ending the war in Gaza.
On the sidelines of the summit, His Majesty also took part in the GCC–Italy Summit held in Manama, reflecting Oman’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships and advancing dialogue with international partners.
