

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Brunei Darussalam held a reception to celebrate the glorious National Day on Wednesday.
Irma bint Said al Kathiriyah, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam, delivered a speech emphasising the profound significance of the glorious National Day and the Sultanate of Oman’s rich history, which dates back to the founding of the Al Busaid State on November 20, 1744, when the founding Imam, Ahmed bin Said al Busaidy, unified the nation.
The ambassador valued the bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Darussalam and the existing cooperation between the two friendly countries.
During the reception, documentary films were screened that showcased the history and heritage of the Sultanate of Oman and its comprehensive and ongoing economic development across various sectors.
The embassy also hosted a cultural exhibition on the sidelines of the reception, featuring a collection of heritage artefacts, photographs of the most important heritage, cultural, and tourist sites of the Sultanate of Oman, and the prominent landmarks of the Omani Renaissance.
The event was attended by Dato Dr Haji Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei Darussalam, and a number of officials from Brunei Darussalam and Omani citizens.
A similar celebration was also held in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where Shaikh Dr Abdullah bin Salem al Harthy, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, delivered a speech in which he indicated that the celebration embodies the historical journey of the Sultanate of Oman since the establishment of the Al Busaid State in 1744, and the subsequent developmental and progressive efforts that established Oman's position regionally and internationally, leading up to what it is witnessing today in terms of continuous development under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The event was attended by Barbara Joziasse, President of the Dutch Audit Office; José Cortals Alts; a number of officials from the Kingdom of the Netherlands; heads of diplomatic missions of sisterly and friendly Arab countries; and Omani citizens. - ONA
