

CAIRO: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Information, participated in the 55th regular session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
The Omani delegation was headed by Mohammed bin Said al Balushi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Information.
The session discussed key regional and media-related issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause in light of current political, diplomatic and field developments, and the impact of the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, with particular focus on the role of Arab media in supporting international efforts backing the Palestinian people.
The agenda also included activating the Arab Media Code of Ethics, reviewing the joint media action plan, the media phase plan to combat terrorism, the Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development 2030, the Arab strategy for media and information literacy, the environmental media plan, and mechanisms for engaging with major international media companies.
In addition, organisational matters were addressed, including the formation of the Executive Office, the selection of the Arab Media Capital 2026, and reviewing the activities of the media and communication sector, Arab League missions abroad, and media organisations and unions.
On the sidelines of the session, the ninth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Award ceremony was announced, held under the theme 'Youth and New Media'. The competition attracted 150 journalistic works from 13 Arab countries across written journalism, audio-visual and digital media categories. - ONA
