The second day of the 2025 World Cup of Snooker (Team Event), hosted by the Sultanate of Oman at “Active Oman” at the Oman Automobile Association, marked the end of the group stage and brought a clear picture of the quarterfinal lineup after a day filled with intense matchups and high-level performances. The day was highlighted by the progression of several top title contenders, while major teams exited the tournament after failing to break through the competition barrier.


The tournament concludes its action today as the awards ceremony takes place at 7:00 pm, under the auspices of Basil bin Ahmed al Rawas, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth. The ceremony will bring together Abdulwahab bin Mohammed al Marshoudi, CEO of Sohar International Bank, Khalid al Subhi, Chairman of the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee, senior ministry officials, and delegations from all participating teams.


Hong Kong China 1 topped Group A with a strong finish (3 matches – 9 frames won), after a decisive 3–1 victory over France.


France finished second with 7 frames won and 4 lost, while India 2 came third with a single win. Oman 3 ended their campaign without points.


Group B brought great excitement on the second day with tightly contested results, before Qatar secured first place with two wins and a total of 8 frames. Iraq 2 followed in second place with 7 frames won and 7 lost.


Poland placed third, while Bangladesh finished at the bottom despite winning their previous match.


Pakistan continued its impressive run, topping Group C with 9 frames won and 4 lost, following an important 3–2 victory over Malaysia in the final group match.


Malaysia advanced in second place after a strong performance (8–5), while Ukraine claimed a single win, and Oman 2 ended without points.


Group D delivered the biggest surprise of the day as Egypt advanced as group leader after earning two wins and 6 frames. Iraq 1 followed in second place, Iran in third, and Australia ended its campaign in last place.


Hong Kong China 2 delivered outstanding performances with three straight wins (9–1) in Group E, including a valuable 3–1 victory over China.


Indonesia finished second after defeating Bahrain 3–1 in their final match to secure two wins in the group. China placed third with one win, while Bahrain finished without points.


In Group F, India 1 completed the group stage undefeated (9–1) after a strong 3–1 win over the UAE. Afghanistan secured second place with two victories, while the UAE finished with one win, and Oman 1 ended without points.


At the end of the group stage, all group winners advanced directly to the quarterfinals, while the second-placed teams played the Round of 16 to determine the remaining qualifiers.


THE ROUND OF 16 OPENED WITH THRILLING, DECISIVE MATCHES:


France defeated Indonesia 3–2 to secure a quarterfinal clash against India 1 in the first matchup of the next round. In another match, Qatar continued its excellent form, overcoming Iraq 1 with a 3–2 victory to book a place in the quarterfinals against Pakistan. Winners of these two quarterfinal matches will advance to the semifinals.


Egypt also claimed an important 3–1 win over India 2, setting up a strong quarterfinal meeting with Hong Kong China 1.


Meanwhile, Malaysia delivered a standout performance with a 3–0 win over Afghanistan to advance and face Hong Kong China 2 in the last quarterfinal matchup. The winners of these matches will meet in the semifinals.
