MUSCAT, NOV 19

‘Damaah’, owned by Said bin Hamad al Jahafi, delivered a standout performance to win the main first round of the valuation races and was selected for purchase by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC).

‘Awaid’ was joining the acquired list, owned by Mohammed bin Mubarak al Hashami, who secured runner-up position in the same round and earned RCC’s selection.

The valuation programme is being held as part of the fourth race of the 2025–26 camel racing season, organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF) in cooperation with the Royal Camel Corps (RCC). The event is being staged at Al Felaij Track in the Wilayat of Barka from November 16 to 20, bringing together top camel owners from across the Sultanate to compete in both valuation and cash prize rounds.

Day’s Competitions

Wednesday’s programme featured six valuation rounds for the Elytha category, four years old, over a distance of 6 km. Followed by seven cash prize rounds over 5 km, further highlighting the depth of competition and the quality of participating camels.

The valuation rounds form a key part of the RCC’s strategic programme to acquire elite racing camels, while the cash rounds serve to boost competition and provide broader participation opportunities for camel owners.

The day concluded with strong competition as camel owners shifted their focus toward the final day of the fourth race, which will feature cash prize rounds only. On November 20, the programme will include six rounds for the Thanaya category, five years old.

In addition to the six rounds for the Al Hawl category, six years and above, all contested over 6 km. With the valuation phase now complete, the closing day is expected to deliver high racing intensity as owners compete for top positions and prize awards.
