MUSCAT: The Oman Film Society (OFS) continues to strengthen its regional and international presence through active cultural exchange, marked by the participation of Omani artist and media personality Dr Ahmed al Othman as a member of the jury at the 14th Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Lagos, Nigeria.
Dr Al Othman, a member of the Society’s International Relations Committee, joins a distinguished panel of film-makers and industry experts from around the world, recognised for their achievements in film production, distribution, and festival management. His inclusion adds to the festival’s diversity and underscores Oman’s growing footprint in the global film community.
Expressing his gratitude and pride, Dr Al Othman said: “Representing the Sultanate of Oman at the Africa International Film Festival is an invaluable opportunity to highlight Omani cinema and strengthen its cultural presence on the global stage. My participation as a member of the short film jury alongside experienced film-makers from various countries reflects the confidence that international festivals place in members of the Oman Film Society.”
He extended thanks to AFRIFF founder Chioma Ude and the festival organisers, adding that his participation provides a platform to build bridges of cooperation and partnership between the Oman Film Society and international film-makers, festival directors, and cultural institutions.
The Oman Film Society’s engagement at AFRIFF forms part of its broader mission to forge strategic partnerships with global film institutions and advance the visibility of Omani cinema. This initiative aligns with the creative and cultural ambitions of Oman Vision 2040, which emphasises international collaboration and the growth of the cultural and creative industries.
