MUSCAT, NOV 8
The third edition of the International Women and Children’s Cinema Festival will be held in Muscat from December 15 to 18, the Oman Film Society (OFS) has announced.
Film-makers from Oman and abroad are invited to submit short films between 2 and 20 minutes that explore themes related to women or children. The registration deadline is November 20.
Speaking to the Observer, Mohammed bin Abdullah al Ajmi, Chairman of the Oman Film Society, said the festival aims to portray issues affecting women and children to a wider audience.
“This festival is part of our ongoing efforts to highlight humanitarian and social issues impacting women and children through cinema, and to engage global film-makers in meaningful dialogue,” Al Ajmi said.
The festival also seeks to celebrate women’s contributions to the film industry and encourage young film-makers to produce works that reflect real experiences and artistic visions upholding family and social values.
Al Ajmi added that the four-day event is expected to attract film-makers, producers and audiences from across the region, further cementing Oman’s reputation as a hub for creative expression and cross-cultural storytelling.
“All film-makers from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman are invited to participate in this cinematic celebration focusing on women and children,” he added.
