BEIRUT: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the Arab Forum on Public Finance and Budgeting, held on Wednesday in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The forum was organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in cooperation with Unicef and a number of international partners concerned with financial and social affairs.

The forum discussed ways to enhance the sustainability of public finance and guide public spending towards social and human development priorities. This is part of following up on the implementation of the "Seville Commitment", which aims to protect investments directed towards human development, social protection and improving the quality of essential services.

The Omani delegation to the forum was headed by Dr Nasser bin Rashid al Maawali, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy.

The forum emphasised the importance of enhancing regional cooperation and exchanging expertise among Arab countries in preparing and implementing public budgets, and developing tools for transparency, governance, and financial innovation, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable social development. - ONA
