KUWAIT: The Sultanate of Oman participated on Wednesday in the 42nd meeting of Ministers of Interior of GCC states in Kuwait. The meeting reviewed a number of topics that contribute to enhancing the process of joint Gulf security cooperation and coordinating efforts and goals to achieve security and stability in the region.


The Omani delegation was headed by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior.


The meeting discussed the efforts made in developing the joint Gulf security work system and the completion rates of joint projects aimed at achieving integration between GCC states in the security field. Consultations and exchanges of views were also held on establishing the practical foundations for applying unified security strategies to enhance the efficiency of security agencies and embody a unified Gulf stance in confronting current and future challenges.


Within the framework of the meeting, the GCC Ministers of Interior witnessed the honouring of the winners of the Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Security Research Award for the GCC countries for the year 2024/2025 at Bayan Palace in Kuwait.


In the Institutional Award Category, the Sultanate of Oman achieved first and second place: The Police College won 1st place; Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences won 2nd place and the Research and Development Centre in the UAE came in 3rd place.


In the Individual Award Category, the winners were: 1st place for Dr Ali al Sindi, Dr Khawla al Shamsi, and Ali Ahmed Amini from the Kingdom of Bahrain; 2nd place for Maj Gen Abdullah al Muftah from the State of Qatar and 3rd place for Lt Col Dr Mariam al Marri from the UAE. - ONA
