MUSCAT: The Majlis Ash’shura on Monday held its Second Ordinary Session chaired by Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura.


The Majlis discussed the work plans of the Standing Committees for the Third Ordinary Session of the Tenth Term. The chairmen of the Majlis’ Standing Committees provided a brief explanation of the contents of the annual plans and executive programmes, including draft laws, proposals for draft laws and a number of proposals submitted for study by each committee according to its specialisation.


During the session, the Majlis also discussed the themes of the Ministerial Statements for the Third Ordinary Session. A set of themes aimed at enhancing communication with the executive branch and discussing the priorities of economic and social development in the coming phase was adopted.


The session also included a discussion of the report of the Services and Public Facilities Committee on the Draft Law on National Geospatial Data and Information, which aims to regulate the collection and use of geographical data in line with modern technical developments in this field, and contributes to enhancing development planning based on accurate information.


During the session, the Economic and Financial Committee presented its report on the Draft Law of Unified Industrial Regulation for the GCC States.


In the same context, the Majlis Ash’shura reviewed during the session the report of the Economic and Financial Committee on the proposal regarding the assessment of the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Omani business environment and the evaluation of the reality of local industries in the Sultanate of Oman.


Meanwhile, the Majlis Ash’shura Office, during its meeting on Monday, approved the results of the Standing Committee elections and the final lists of membership for members of the Majlis' Standing Committees for the half-term. This approval allows the members to commence their work in the Majlis' Standing Committees by studying a range of topics included in their approved plans during today's second Majlis session.


This occurred during the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Majlis' Office for the Third Ordinary Session of the Tenth Term (2023-2027), chaired by Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura. During the meeting, several ministerial responses were reviewed. — ONA
