Salalah stun Masirah with comeback win in basketball league

Salalah Club pulled off a dramatic and valuable victory over Masirah, winning 64–59 after overturning a first-half deficit in the 2025–2026 Oman General Basketball League match. The game took place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex auxiliary hall in Bausher.


A THRILLING MATCH AND SHARED CONTROL


The clash was intense and competitive from the outset, with both sides alternating control of the game. Masirah appeared more organised in the first half, while Salalah regained its rhythm in the second half, showing impressive fitness and fighting spirit in the closing minutes. The match featured a fast pace and continuous offensive exchanges, with both teams’ defenders excelling on several occasions.


The first quarter was evenly matched as both teams attempted to impose their attacking style. Masirah showed good defensive organisation and quick offensive transitions, ending the quarter ahead 12–11.


In the second quarter, Masirah maintained its offensive momentum, extending the lead with accurate three-point shooting and rapid transitions, scoring 19 points to Salalah’s 13 to close the half 31–24 in Masirah’s favour.


At the start of the third quarter, Salalah adopted a more balanced approach, relying on fast breaks led by Mishal Kafkaf and Moheeb al Habsi, who narrowed the gap by scoring 16 points to Masirah’s 14, bringing the score to 45–40.


The fourth quarter witnessed a dramatic turnaround, as Salalah delivered its best performance of the match in both attack and defence. Thanks to the brilliance of Qaisar al Balushi and Faisal Beit Abd Al Nabi, who excelled in scoring and defensive rebounds, Salalah dominated the period 24–14 and clinched the match with a final score of 64–59.


From Salalah’s side, standout players included Mishal Kafkaf, Qaisar al Balushi, Moheeb al Habsi, and Faisal Beit Abd Al Nabi, who combined speed and precision under the basket. For Masirah, Mohammed al Mahrami, Ayham al Sahi, Yousuf al Kharousi, and Ahmed al Mashrafi shone as key threats throughout the game, particularly with their three-point accuracy and fast counterattacks.


The match was officiated by international referee Rashid al Mushaifri (head referee), international referee Wafaa al Samri (second), and Taha al Amri (third), while the scorer’s table was managed by Mohsin al Owimri, Abeer al Hashmi, and Majid al Makhzumi.
