MUSCAT: Defending champions Al Amerat opened their 2025/2026 domestic beach soccer league campaign in style recently with a commanding 5-2 comeback win over Masirah in the opening round of matches, setting an early tone for their title defence.

Under the guidance of former national team star Jalal al Sinani, Al Amerat displayed solid teamwork and attacking flair, led by several key members of the national beach soccer team, including Salim al Oraimi, Yahya al Murkhi, and Khalid al Oraimi. The defending champions overturned an early deficit with goals from Salim al Oraimi, Yahya al Murkhi, Khalid al Oraimi, Al Yaqadhan al Hindasi, and Sami al Balushi. Masirah’s two goals were netted by Younis al Owaisi.

Elsewhere, Al Oruba and Mirbat made strong statements of their own with convincing victories. Al Oruba cruised to a 7-2 triumph over Taqah, courtesy of a balanced offensive performance. The goal scorers for Al Oruba were Mohammed al Oraimi (2), Enad al Farsi, Musallam al Oraimi, Sameer al Saad, Khalid al Farsi, and Mohammed Jasim, while Ahmed Dorbeen and Fawzan Basheer found the net for Taqah.

Mirbat wrapped up the first-round fixtures with a powerful 7-3 victory over Salalah, marking themselves as another early contender in this season’s competition.

A total of seven teams are competing in the league: Al Amerat, Masirah, Saham, Taqah, Salalah, Mirbat and Al Oruba. The tournament follows a single-round league format, with the team collecting the highest number of points crowned as champions.

The Oman Football Association (OFA) allocated attractive prizes for the top three finishers including the champions will receive RO 5,000 and 25 gold medals, the runner-up will take home RO 3,000 and 25 silver medals, while the third-place team will earn RO 2,000 and 25 bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Oman’s national beach soccer coaching staff, headed by experienced coach Talib Hilal, are closely monitoring the league matches. The technical team aims to identify standout players to join the national squad ahead of upcoming international events. Oman’s beach soccer team last presence was at the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025, where they bowed out in the group stage. The national side faced tough competition, falling to Italy (7-4) and Brazil (11-1), before defeating El Salvador via penalties after a 4-4 draw. The national team could not manage to move into the knockout stage for the first time in history in their sixth participation at the beach soccer world championships.
