HANGZHOU: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) is taking part in the World University Presidents Forum and the International Forum on Higher Education, being held in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China, from November 7 to 10.

The forum seeks to explore the future of higher education and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in developing the global system of education and research.

UTAS delegation was led by Dr Said bin Hamad al Rubaie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences. The forum brings together global university leaders, representatives of international organisations and experts in education and artificial intelligence from more than 40 countries.

The programme of the forum includes panel discussions and bilateral meetings featuring several themes, including “innovation in higher education in the age of artificial intelligence”, “developing digital education models”, “promoting educational equity and research”, “streamlining higher education mechanisms to fit with real-world applications” and “establishing international partnerships to support the sustainability of higher education”.

UTAS delegation participated in consultative meetings with representatives of international universities and educational institutions. The meetings dealt with prospects for cooperation in the fields of science and research, the exchange of students and university staff and the development of joint programmes in AI and technology disciplines.

The participation of UTAS in the forum stems from the university’s drive towards global openness and leadership in the fields of technology and innovation in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. - ONA
