MUSCAT: Majees and Sohar continued to strengthen their standings in the race for qualification in Group One of the First Division Volleyball League (2025–2026 season), after both teams earned well-deserved 3–0 victories on Friday, in a round that showcased strong offensive performances and clear technical dominance throughout the sets.
SOHAR SHINE AGAIN AND STRENGTHEN ITS LEAD
At the Sohar Sports Complex, the Sohar team delivered a complete performance both defensively and offensively, defeating Saham in straight sets (25–11, 25–16, 25–14) in a match that was controlled by the home side from the very start.
Sohar players demonstrated high focus in serving and receiving, with clear superiority in powerful attacks from the wings and middle, securing the first set by a wide margin of 25–11.
In the second set, Saham attempted to improve and managed to reduce the gap halfway through the set, but Sohar’s experience allowed them to regain control and close it out 25–16.
Saham entered the third set with more determination to come back, but Sohar gave them no room to respond, maintaining control of the rhythm thanks to excellent ball distribution by the setter, making the team’s attacks unpredictable. Effective blocking added valuable points for Sohar, along with a variety of attacking plays down the line and across the court, securing the set and the match for the hosts. Sohar now firmly leads the group with 18 points from 7 matches.
MAJEES REGAIN BALANCE WITH A VALUABLE WIN OVER AL SHABAB
At the Rustaq Sports Complex, Majees earned an important victory over Al Shabab in straight sets (25–13, 26–24, 25–13), collecting three new points that raised their tally to 13, strengthening their position among the top teams.
Majees started the match strongly and comfortably won the first set after an organised and cohesive team performance. The second set was the most exciting and closely contested between the two sides. Al Shabab entered this set with greater determination, managing to equalise several times with a clear improvement in reception and better attacking organisation through quick plays in the middle.
The pace of the match increased with both sides exchanging powerful spikes, and Al Shabab’s blocking impressed with two critical points that brought them back into contention. However, Majees sealed the set with the experience of its players in the decisive moments, capitalising on a back-row spike followed by a direct serve ace to close the set 26–24.
In the third set, Majees returned to its fast and effective playing style and wrapped up the match confidently with a 25–13 win, showing noticeable improvement in team chemistry and fitness.
