KUWAIT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, participated in the 29th meeting of the GCC Permanent Committee of Officials of Legislative Departments, held in the State of Kuwait.

The Omani delegation to the meeting was headed by Dr Yahya bin Nasser al Khusaibi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs.

The meeting discussed a set of topics on its agenda, most notably the strategy for the work of the GCC Permanent Committee of Officials of Legislative Departments, and the outcomes of the meetings of the committee of experts and specialists from the legislative departments regarding the executive bylaw for the Unified Law for International Transport between the GCC states.

The meeting also reviewed the work of the task force concerned with compiling the legislative principles issued by the legislative departments of the GCC states.

Additionally, it discussed a proposal from the General Secretariat (the Assistant Secretariat for Legislative and Legal Affairs) regarding awareness-raising on legislative policy and the Legislative Drafting Guide for the unified laws of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as the use of artificial intelligence in the work of the legislative departments in the GCC states.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs represents the Sultanate of Oman in the meetings of the Permanent Committee of Legislative Departments of the GCC states, as it is the competent authority in the Sultanate of Oman in light of the mandates assigned to it by Royal Decree No 88/2020. - ONA
