Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced that citizens and residents planning to perform Hajj in 1447 AH (2026) must complete the required vaccinations before their departure.
The ministry stated that individuals who have been selected through the electronic lottery system managed by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs should proceed to the designated health institutions in their respective governorates to receive the necessary immunisations.
All intending Hajj and Umrah pilgrims( both adults and children aged two months and above) must receive one dose of the meningococcal meningitis vaccine.
The vaccine provides protection for five years. Those who have previously taken the vaccine within the past five years are exempt, provided they can show valid proof. However, anyone who received the vaccine more than five years ago must take a new dose.
All intending Hajj and Umrah pilgrims (adults and children aged six months and above) are also required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine.
The vaccine protects against infection and reduces the risk of complications while providing seasonal immunity.
The ministry emphasised the importance of taking the vaccinations at least ten days before travel to ensure adequate protection and to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases during the pilgrimage season.
