The Omani Society for Fine Arts, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, inaugurated

Tajalliyat Fanniyah (Artistic Inspirations) on Tuesday evening to mark Omani Women’s Day,

celebrating the creativity and expression of women artists across Oman.

The exhibition, inaugurated by Dr Siham al Sheibani, featured 75 paintings, 40 artworks, 20 photographs, 10 digital art pieces, and 5 calligraphic works, each offering a window into the artists’ reflections on heritage, identity and modernity.

“This annual event has become a beautiful tradition,” said one of the participants, noting how it

provides a meaningful platform for women to share their artistic journeys and explore new

creative directions.

Artist Hafsa al Tamimi explained the inspiration behind her work: “For Women’s Day, I chose

this painting because it reflects our generation, one that embraces modernity and technology,

where life feels like a race. Yet, the woman in my painting still values tradition and takes pride in

her heritage. The fort above her symbolises her dreams, deeply rooted in the history

of her country.”

For Asmaa al Kalbani, her art speaks through the colours of culture. “I’m very happy to be part

of this exhibition,” she said. “My artwork tells stories about Omani traditional clothing, jewellery,

and heritage. It’s a way of keeping those traditions alive.”

Mixed-media artist Tahira Fida reflected on how the annual exhibition has become a marker of

artistic growth. “I’m very happy to celebrate Omani Women’s Day. It’s a wonderful occasion to

meet fellow artists and see their creations,” she said. “Every year, I try to present something

new. Last year, my work focused on women in literature; this time it’s about my memories. The

pieces may not depict women directly, but they represent parts of me, my emotions and

evolution as an artist.” She added, “My style is always mixed media. I use materials like

modelling paste, copper leaves, acrylic glass, and cardboard, most of them inspired by Omani

textures and the environment.”

Photographer Intisar al Habsi shared her pride in capturing moments of heritage. “I feel proud to

take part in this event. My photograph was taken during the Muscat Festival and showcases

Omani traditional clothing and culture. In the future, I hope to participate in more exhibitions and

gain international exposure.”

The Artistic Inspirations exhibition, open until October 29 at the Omani Society for Fine Arts in

Ghala, continues to serve as a vital platform for women artists to showcase their evolving

visions while honouring Omani heritage and womanhood.
