Royal Cavalry rider secures fifth spot at 2026 World Endurance Championship

The Royal Cavalry of Oman has continued its impressive run in international endurance racing, as rider Ahmed bin Salem al Hamdani, aboard AlJaz, secured qualification for the 2026 FEI World Endurance Championship, set to take place in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia.


Al Hamdani earned his qualification after successfully completing the 160 km Compiegne International Endurance Ride held in France, organised by the Federation Equestre Internationale FEI, the competition featured 50 riders from various countries, showcasing high levels of skill, stamina and strategy in challenging weather conditions.


The race comprised six stages, with distances of 32 km for the first stage, 30 km for the second, 28 km for the third, 21 km for the fourth, 28 km for the fifth and 21 km for the sixth and final stage, the demanding terrain and stringent veterinary checks tested both the horses endurance and the riders tactical precision throughout the event.


With Al Hamdani’s success, the Royal Cavalry now has five riders qualified for the upcoming World Endurance Championship, a remarkable milestone that reinforces Oman’s growing presence on the global endurance scene.


The qualified riders are: Mahmood bin Marhoon al Foori on Electra, Hisham bin Saleh al Farsi on Blexima, Saleh bin Salem al Balushi on Estiq, Hussain bin Ali al Farsi on Fanchador, Ahmed bin Salem al Hamdani on AlJaz.


The Royal Cavalry of Oman achieved another remarkable triumph as rider Hisham bin Saleh al Farsi, aboard Kara, claimed first place in the French Endurance Marathon, under the supervision of trainer Menon.


The race featured elite international riders, with Al Farsi maintaining a strong lead throughout to secure a commanding victory. This success adds to his impressive record in France, including winning the Florac International Endurance Ride 2023 and finishing second in the Compiegne Race 2024, reaffirming the Royal Cavalry’s continued excellence in global endurance competitions.


This latest achievement highlights the continued excellence of the Royal Cavalry in international equestrian competitions and reflects the advanced training systems and professional standards that have become hallmarks of Oman endurance racing.
