GOATS team claimed the Women’s General Category Championship in the 2025 Women’s Football League, while Juventus Academy secured the Junior Category title, in the league organised by the Oman Football Association (OFA), represented by the Women’s Football Committee, in cooperation with Oman Refco Company.


In the individual awards, Rameen from Juventus Academy won the Top Scorer Award, while her team-mate Rateel al Busaidy received the Best Goalkeeper Award, and Noor al Siyabi from Hail Al Awamer School was named the Best Player of the League.


The closing ceremony was attended by Dr Badriya bint Ibrahim al Shehhiyah, Saada bint Salim al Ismailiyah, Women’s Sports Expert at the Office of the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Hajar al Mazaini, Member of the OFA Board, and Lujaina al Hinai, representative of Oman Refco. The event featured the honouring of winning teams and players in a festive atmosphere that reflected the league’s success in supporting women’s football and promoting girls’ participation in sports.


A total of nine teams from academies, private and public schools, and community clubs took part in the league, divided into two age categories: Under 13–16 years and General Category. The matches were played at Goal One pitches in Al Athaiba. The league was held in celebration of Omani Women’s Day, reinforcing the efforts to strengthen women’s participation in sports and develop women’s football across the Sultanate of Oman.


PLAN TO DEVELOP WOMEN'S FOOTBALL


Hajar al Mazini, OFA Board Member and Chair of the Women’s Committee, stated that the first edition of the league witnessed a high level of performance and enthusiasm, exceeding expectations. She praised the players’ discipline and competitive spirit, noting that the matches revealed diverse young talents capable of representing Oman in the future.


Al Mazini added that the league aimed not only to foster competition but also to raise awareness and provide entertainment, spreading football culture among girls through cooperation with schools, academies, parents, and community clubs. She affirmed that the experience was a great success, achieving its goals and opening new horizons for discovering promising players.


She explained that the OFA plans to expand participation in future editions to include all governorates, while also strengthening cooperation with educational and sports institutions to ensure a sustainable competitive environment.


Al Mazini concluded by emphasising that the OFA has developed a comprehensive strategy for women’s football, including training and refereeing courses to qualify Omani female cadres, and launching new tournaments at school, academy, university, and club levels. She affirmed that the ultimate goal is to build a sustainable football ecosystem that enhances women’s presence in the sport and enables girls to play in a safe and motivating environment that develops their skills and showcases their talent in local and international arenas.
