ABU DHABI: In a step towards advancing international environmental cooperation, Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority and President of the Seventh United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), met Ruth Davies, the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for Nature, on the sidelines of the 27th World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting reviewed opportunities to enhance bilateral collaboration between Oman and the UK in the field of environmental governance, biodiversity preservation and sustainable resource management. It also discussed the priorities of the upcoming UNEA session, focusing on strengthening global commitments to address climate challenges.

The discussions underscored the UK’s support for Oman’s leadership in international environmental forums, particularly its pivotal role in shaping the UNEA Ministerial Declaration. Oman’s participation in the Congress reflects its ongoing efforts to position itself as a regional model for responsible environmental stewardship and sustainable development. - ONA
