Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) hosted a roundtable meeting between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan, attended by Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI, as well as a number of business leaders from both countries.
The roundtable aimed to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, expand investment opportunities, and highlight the role of the private sector in building joint ventures. Discussions covered promising sectors such as renewable energy, mining, tourism, logistics, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.
Qais Al Yousef noted that the meeting reflects the strong commitment of both nations to broaden avenues of cooperation. He stressed that Oman, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, is dedicated to creating an enabling environment for business and attracting foreign investments in line with Oman Vision 2040. He also pointed to national initiatives such as Invest in Oman, Future Fund Oman, and the Investment and Commercial Court, which aim to provide a supportive and investor-friendly framework.
Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized that the roundtable illustrates the depth of bilateral relations and the shared ambition to enhance trade and investment ties. He underlined that the private sector in both countries is a cornerstone for driving economic growth, and that active partnerships will open new horizons for trade and investment.
Shaikh Faisal Al Rawas stated that the meeting reaffirms the steadily growing ties between Oman and Azerbaijan, highlighting the strong potential of the private sector to establish joint projects in key industries such as energy, tourism, food production, and logistics. He noted that such initiatives align with Oman Vision 2040 objectives of economic diversification and job creation.
The programme also included a presentation from Invest in Oman, which outlined the Sultanate’s competitive investment advantages and incentives, while the Azerbaijani delegation showcased the country’s strategic geographic position connecting Europe and Asia, as well as its efforts to diversify the economy and strengthen its investment environment.
