‘Taraf’, owned by Ahmed bin Abdullah al Darai, captured the trophy in the Hagayeg category (3 km) with an impressive time of 4:34:93, while ‘Shaqra’, owned by Ibrahim bin Saud al Darai, clinched the trophy in the Lagaya category (4 km) after finishing in 6:15:10.

Both victories reflected the strong competition at the camel racing event organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF), supported by Shell Oman, at the Saih Al Sereya track in the Wilayat of Adam on Thursday morning.

The race was held under the auspices of Dr Mohammed bin Ali Zabanoot al Mahri, Wali of Adam. The event featured the honouring of trophy winners, in addition to government institutions and corporate sponsors for their valuable contributions to the success of the competition.

The one-day race, dedicated exclusively to the people of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, drew wide participation from camel owners, featuring eleven rounds for the Hagayeg category (two years old, 3 km) and five rounds for the Lagaya category (three years old, 4 km).

This event marked the first race of the season organised by the OCRF in cooperation with the private sector represented by Shell Oman, reflecting the federation’s ongoing efforts to promote the heritage sport and strengthen partnerships with the private sector, in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The OCRF recently announced six races this season — three supported by Shell Oman and three by Occidental Oman.

The second Shell Oman race will take place in Al Dhahirah from October 22–23, while the third will be hosted by Al Wusta from December 20–21.

The first Occidental Oman race will be held in Al Wusta from November 12–13, followed by the second in Al Dakhiliyah from November 26–27. The series will conclude in Al Dhahirah on January 7–8, 2026.
