

RIYADH: Omani books and manuscripts are captivating audiences at the Riyadh International Book Fair, which runs until October 11.
The Sultanate of Oman’s participation reflects its deep-rooted cultural and intellectual heritage and underscores its prominent standing in the Arab literary landscape.
This year, Oman’s pavilion brings together several key cultural institutions, presenting a diverse array of works on literature, history, religion and science.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) showcases a rich selection of publications, including the Omani Encyclopedia and notable poetry collections such as Diwan Al Nabhani, Diwan Al Satali, Diwan Al Ghashri and Diwan Abu Muslim Al Bahlani. Visitors can also explore historical works like Al Fath Al Mubeen fi Tarikh Al Busaidi, Al Sha’a Al Sha’i bi Al Lama’an fi Dhikr A’immat Oman by Ibn Ruzaik, and Oman Across History by Shaikh Salem bin Hamoud al Siyabi, alongside publications on marine sciences and medicine.
Mohammed bin Obaid al Maskari from the ministry noted that this year’s participation ensures a strong literary and cultural representation. “We aim to provide a diverse range of Omani works that appeal to Saudi and Arab readers and highlight the depth of Omani thought and creativity,” he said.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs is displaying an extensive collection of works on Quranic studies, jurisprudence, creed, Hadith and philosophy, available in several languages to reach a wider audience.
Badr bin Hilal al Ismaili highlighted visitors’ growing interest in the ministry’s multilingual publications, praising their quality and scientific value.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism features over 50 titles covering Oman’s archaeological and cultural legacy, including series on heritage crafts, underwater antiquities, World Heritage Sites and fort restoration. Ahmed bin Khalifa al Ghafri emphasised that the ministry’s participation promotes Oman’s cultural landmarks and showcases its documentation efforts in the heritage sector.
Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) presents 60 academic titles in Arabic and English across religious, literary and historical fields, along with seven peer-reviewed journals. Yahya bin Said al Hajji said the university’s participation aims to enhance academic presence and promote research output. Among SQU’s notable titles are The Civilisational History of Oman by Dr Ali bin Hassan al Lawati and Oman in the Era of the Banu Nabhan by Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harthy.
The National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) contributes 49 publications highlighting Oman’s documentary and historical heritage. Salem bin Saleh al Siyabi noted the strong visitor interest in documentary works and explained that the NRAA’s presence reinforces its role in preserving Oman’s scientific and archival legacy.
The Omani pavilion continues to draw academics and researchers from across the Arab world. Dr Jumaan al Otaibi of Taif University praised the collection as 'a window into Oman’s enduring contributions to Arabic literature and cultural thought.'
Similarly, Dr Abdulrahman bin Sultan al Talahi from King Saud University expressed admiration for Oman’s historical ties with Africa and the renewal evident in modern Omani literature.
The Sultanate of Oman’s presence at the Riyadh International Book Fair stands as a testament to its commitment to promoting dialogue, creativity, and intellectual exchange within the Arab and global cultural spheres.
