Omani player Ameen bin Hassan al Ansi is representing the Sultanate of Oman in the Asian Senior Chess Championship, hosted by the city of Erbil, Iraq, from October 5 to 14, with the participation of top players from 15 countries. The Oman Chess Committee oversees the national participation, aspiring to achieve positive results that reflect the game’s growing presence locally. The championship, designated for the age category 50 years and above, is played under the Swiss system over 9 rounds, with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move.


Ameen al Ansi is considered one of Oman’s most prominent chess players, having won several top places in local club and official competitions. He has also represented Oman in various regional and international tournaments, where he managed to improve his international ranking. In this Asian participation, he aims to deliver a distinguished performance that surpasses his previous results and reach the podium, affirming the progress of Omani chess on both regional and international levels.
