

MUSCAT: The ninth edition of the Karate Pioneers Open Championship concluded on Friday evening, September 26, at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The tournament was organised by the Karate Pioneers Academy under the leadership of Shihan Ahmed bin Said al Zakwani, and witnessed an enthusiastic atmosphere with strong public attendance.
The championship featured wide participation from athletes representing six countries Oman, UAE, Qatar, Syria, Tunisia and Iran. A total of 25 clubs, centers and academies took part with male and female participants ranging in age from 5 to 45 years, divided into various age and weight categories.
The competitions were held in two main disciplines Kumite and Kata, were officiated by an elite panel of international, Asian and local referees, giving the event highly professional and competitive character.
The championship was held under the auspices of Fahad bin Khamis al Balushi, Chief Financial Officer of AL Zubair Corporation, who expressed his pride in supporting such sporting events that help develop youth talents and enhance Oman’s presence on the regional and international sports map.
At the closing ceremony, the patron and Shihan al Zakwani crowned the winners in different categories.
Ali Karate Club secured first place, with Nsoor Samayil Club finishing as runner up, while Al Qudra Club and Al Emperor Club shared third place.
Shihan al Zakwani praised the high technical level demonstrated by the participants and reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to organising such events
that promote fair competition and strengthen bonds of friendship among participating nations.
