

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development has established an independent unit dedicated to receiving and protecting male victims of human trafficking. This represents a qualitative addition to the services provided by the protection shelter for women and children who are victims of human trafficking.
The establishment of this unit complements the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman in the field of combating human trafficking through joint work between various government, civil, and international entities, and by adopting best international practices in protecting victims of violence and abuse. This reflects Oman's commitment to the principles of human rights and international conventions.
The unit has been equipped according to high standards that ensure a safe and private environment. It includes various essential services such as healthcare, nutrition, recreational activities, and psychosocial support, with a focus on rehabilitation and community reintegration programs.
It is worth noting that the protection shelter, affiliated to the Ministry of Social Development, is an integrated institution concerned with providing care, social and psychological support services to children at risk of abuse, violence, or exploitation, in addition to victims of human trafficking. It also provides support and protection for women at risk of abuse and women subjected to forced isolation, within a safe environment that preserves human dignity and provides the elements of empowerment and rehabilitation. this contributes to helping victims overcome challenges and achieve positive and effective integration into society.
