The Shaikh Mustahail bin Ahmed Mosque was inaugurated in the Wilayat of Taqah on Friday under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The inaugural Friday prayers were led by Dr Shaikh Kahlan bin Nabhan al Kharousi, Assistant Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman.
Covering an area of 9,123 square metres, it can host up to 4,600 worshippers across its main prayer hall, women’s section and expansive courtyards. At the heart of the mosque is its library, housing around 8,000 books. The collection spans religious texts, history, geography, biographies, scientific journals and children’s literature. — ONA
