

Muscat: The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) on Wednesday organized a symposium titled “Prospects of Research and Innovation in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Towards a Sustainable Knowledge Economy”.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Ahmed bin Musallam al Rowas, Assistant to the Head of the Medical City for Military and Security Services (for Administrative Affairs and Human Resources).
At the event, the RAFO was represented by the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy at Ghala Air Base.
The symposium covered four main topics. The first focused on research in the age of artificial intelligence. The second dealt with the "role of research in generating innovation". The third elaborated on concepts and mechanisms of incubators and accelerators in academic institutions. The fourth discussed the extent to which research and innovation influence knowledge-based economy and achieves sustainable economic growth.
The symposium seeks to highlight modern research trends within the context of artificial intelligence, linking academic research to market needs and decision-making, in addition to studying common challenges and exploring opportunities in local and global research and innovation systems in a manner that fits with the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy’s strategic plan.
