MUSCAT: The Steering Committee on Climate Change held its fourth preparatory meeting in preparation for the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), scheduled to take place in Belém, Brazil.
The meeting discussed key themes on the COP30 agenda, including just transition, climate action finance mechanisms, and strategies for adaptation and mitigation of climate change impacts.
The session also focused on defining national priorities and formulating Oman’s negotiation position, with an emphasis on enhancing coordination with international negotiation blocs, particularly the Group of 77 and China (G77 + China) and the Arab Group, to effectively represent Oman’s interests and ensure its voice is heard. —ONA
