MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT) on Tuesday signed a contract with Bait Al Ghasham Trading to manage, operate and utilise Barka Fort in the Wilayat of Barka, Al Batinah South Governorate.

The signing of the agreement aims to maximise the benefits of cultural heritage and its contribution to economic growth, as Barka Fort is one of the most important historical landmarks in the governorate, holding significant cultural and heritage value.

The project will stimulate tourism by attracting visitors from both within and outside Oman and will serve as an opportunity to enhance the private sector's role in the management and operation of heritage sites. The project will also provide multiple investment opportunities, including tourism activities, cultural events, recreational activities and craft exhibitions, in addition to creating job opportunities in various sectors. - ONA
