

DOHA: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, participated in the proceedings of the Extraordinary Session of the GCC Supreme Council regarding the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar.
The summit was attended by Their Majesties and Highnesses, the GCC leaders, and was held in the Qatari capital, Doha.
The Extraordinary Session examined the latest developments, namely the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar and its serious repercussions on regional security and stability. The summit reaffirmed the unified GCC position in support of Qatar's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It emphasised the necessity of enhancing solidarity and joint action to safeguard the security and supreme interests of the GCC member states and to contribute to the protection of regional and international peace and security.
The Extraordinary Session discussed political, economic, and security developments in the region, along with regional and international issues of common interest.
The Extraordinary Session was chaired by Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar. Representing the Omani side was Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister.
Earlier, HH Sayyid Shihab and his accompanying delegation were welcomed upon their arrival at Hamad International Airport by Saoud bin Abdulrahman al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs of the State of Qatar. — ONA
