

Muscat: The curtain falls on the 2025 First Division Hockey League on Tuesday with the final match between Dhofar and Sohar at 7 pm in a much-anticipated clash to decide the champion. Earlier, in the third-place playoff, Nizwa will face Masirah at 5 pm. Both matches will take place at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat.
Dhofar entered the semifinal against Masirah with high attacking intensity and sealed the match 5–1, confirming their superiority and readiness to compete for the title.
The game started strongly, with Majid Bayt Rajboon opening the scoring in the fifth minute after a well-organised attack, ending the first quarter 1–0.
Masirah began the second quarter determined to equalise, and Khalid al Balushi managed to level the score in the 18th minute with a powerful strike. However, their joy was short-lived as Anas al Wahibi restored Dhofar’s lead in the same minute. Dhofar continued pressing, and Akram Ashour made it 3–1 in the 28th minute, closing the second quarter with a commanding lead.
In the third quarter, Dhofar maintained their control, with Ashour netting his second and the team’s fourth.
With victory almost secured in the fourth quarter, Dhofar continued their dominance, and in the 45th minute, Saleh al Wahibi scored the fifth goal from a quick counterattack, booking Dhofar’s deserved place in the final.
SOHAR ADVANCE
In the second semifinal, Sohar showcased their strength with a confident 4–0 win over Nizwa.
The game started quickly, with Omar al Maamari scoring in the 10th minute after a fine solo run. Wael Sanjoor doubled the lead in the 15th minute, capitalising on a defensive error, closing the first quarter 2–0.
In the second quarter, Sohar pressed on, and Ahmed al Shibli added the third in the 27th minute. Nizwa struggled to match the tempo, ending the half trailing 3–0.
The third quarter was relatively calm, with both teams exchanging possession but without serious chances, leaving Sohar comfortably in control.
The fourth goal came in the 47th minute when Yaqoub al Amri converted a penalty corner with precision, sealing a comprehensive 4–0 victory and sending Sohar confidently into the final.
