Digital ID on mobile is legally recognized: ROP

"The digital ID can be presented legally to the competent authorites incase the physical cards are not in possession," the ROP spokesman confirmed.

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has confirmed that the Digital ID (via mobile application) can be presented to government officials, including the police, on demand as it is legally recoganized.

"The digital ID can be presented legally to the competent authorites incase the physical cards are not in possession," the ROP spokesman confirmed.

This was revealed by ROP as it announced a series of e-services via the app for 2025, including human trafficking reporting service, submitting technical fault reports,  digital identity in electronic travel portals, digital identity to verify a person's identity in financial transactions,  issuing a proof of license certificate via the Royal Oman Police website, updating phone numbers for individuals and children including updating the phone number, email, and electricity meter number, printing a new license via self-service machines, displaying birth certificates, displaying passports, displaying investor cards and  displaying workers' data with employers via app and booking an appointment for making a video call and visiting prison inmates. 

Among others, details of family members will be available on the app, which can be also be used as a bank card or to replace a lost one through Bank Muscat's machine.
