MUSCAT, SEPT 7
Al Nahda secured a deserved 3-0 victory over Ibri in their Group Two clash of the Jetour Cup 2025/2026 season, played at the Al Buraimi Sports Complex. The match began with clear competitiveness between the two sides, as both tried to impose their style from the opening minutes. However, Al Nahda, backed by home support, soon established dominance with organised attacking pressure. In the 18th minute, Ahmed al Matrooshi opened the scoring for the hosts with a well-executed move that ended in a precise strike past the Ibri goalkeeper.
Ibri did not give up and sought a quick response through fast transitions, but Al Nahda’s defence stayed focused to neutralise most attempts. From a quick counterattack in the 27th minute, Al Nahda doubled their lead through their professional player Aboubakar Diarra, closing the first half with a 2-0 advantage. Entering the second half with great confidence, Al Nahda pushed to seal the match early. Just seven minutes after the restart, in the 52nd minute, Aboubakar Diarra struck again, capitalising on defensive confusion to net his second of the night and Al Nahda’s third.
Ibri attempted to reduce the deficit with some individual efforts and long-range shots, but the Al Nahda goalkeeper stood firm to deny all chances. The match ended with a convincing 3-0 win for the hosts.
DHOFAR AND SAMAYIL SHARE POINTS IN GOALLESS DRAW
Dhofar’s team had to settle for a single point after a goalless draw with Samayil in their Group One fixture of the Jetour Cup 2025/2026, played at the Al Saada Sports Complex. The first half saw chances at both ends. Dhofar threatened early through Rashid Bayt al Thahain in the 7th minute and Fahmi Durbin from a free kick in the 19th, but goalkeeper Alaa al Hamdani denied both. Samayil replied with a dangerous effort from Ahmed al Farsi in the 28th, saved by Mazen al Kasbi, before Bayt al Thahain’s header went over just before halftime, leaving the score 0-0.
Both teams entered the second half eager to score. In the 48th minute, Samayil’s Moayad al Hishami squandered a clear chance when he went one-on-one but shot wide. Dhofar responded in the 57th minute through Abdullah Zahir, whose header narrowly missed the target. Despite late attempts from both sides, the match ended goalless with each team taking a point.
The third round of Group Two in the Jetour Cup concluded with a goalless draw between Saham and Al Khabourah, played at the Sohar Sports Complex. The match lacked excitement throughout, with play largely concentrated in midfield and very few real threats on either goal. Both sides attempted to score through individual efforts and long-range shots, but poor accuracy and focus prevented them from breaking through. In the end, the two teams settled for a 0-0 draw and shared the points.
