SALALAH: The Omani Traditional Games Season concluded on Saturday at Al Dahariz Beach in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate.

The three-day event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, featured the Dhofar Governorate Clubs Championship for Traditional Omani Games. Strong competition unfolded across three traditional games: Al Sayyad, Lakad and Yous.

Alongside the championship, visitors enjoyed several activities, including an exhibition of traditional Omani games, a virtual reality (VR) corner to experience these games, and an interactive space for children to learn and participate.

In the final results, Taqa Club claimed first place, followed by Mirbat Club in second, and Salalah Club in third. The closing day also witnessed the crowning of the winners and the honouring of individuals and institutions that supported the event’s success.

Ibrahim bin Khalfan al Shibli, General Supervisor of the Omani Traditional Games Season, highlighted that the initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to preserving traditional sports and games. He noted that such events not only safeguard an authentic element of Omani heritage but also promote environmental awareness under the theme of “sports and a sustainable environment.”
