AL DUQM: The Youth Ideas Competition titled 'Tourism Hackathon 2025' will be held in Al Duqm, Al Wusta Governorate, from August 27 to 31. Organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in cooperation with private-sector partners, the event aims to strengthen the tourism and hospitality sector in Oman.
The hackathon will provide a platform for youth, entrepreneurs and innovators to develop smart, practical solutions that address the challenges facing the tourism sector. It also seeks to inspire and empower Omani talent to think creatively, promote sustainable growth and enhance the sector’s long-term competitiveness.
Beyond being a contest, the initiative serves as an opportunity for collaboration and knowledge exchange, underscoring Oman’s commitment to innovation and future skills development in tourism and hospitality.
Participants will include entrepreneurs, innovators and students from universities and colleges. The competition will revolve around key themes such as smart tourism destinations, enriching visitor experiences, events and activities, sustainable tourism, digital innovation and preserving and promoting heritage and culture. — ONA
