

Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), through the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center, has issued Weather Alert (1) regarding expected heavy rainfall over several governorates of the Sultanate of Oman during Wednesday and Thursday, August 20–21, 2025.
According to the advisory, thundershowers of varying intensity are forecast over Dhofar, Al Wusta, and North Al Sharqiyah, with rainfall amounts ranging between 20–50 mm, accompanied by active downdraft winds. These conditions are expected to cause flash floods in wadis and low-lying areas. There are also chances of scattered thunderstorms affecting parts of South Al Sharqiyah and the interior governorates.
The CAA has urged the public to exercise extreme caution during heavy rainfall, avoid crossing wadis, keep away from low-lying areas, and refrain from venturing into the sea during this period.

Heavy thundershowers ranging between 20–50 mm, causing flash floods in wadis.
Strong winds ranging between 15–45 knots (28–83 km/h).
Rough sea conditions along most of the Arabian Sea coasts, with wave heights of 3–4 meters.
Reduced visibility due to rainfall, dust, and rising water levels.
The alert remains valid until Thursday, August 21, 4:00 PM, subject to further updates depending on weather developments.
