MUSCAT: The Oman School Team will participate in the Arab School Championship, which will be held in Jordan. The official opening ceremony of the championship will be held on Tuesday.
The Sultanate of Oman’s delegation is headed by Abdullah bin Ali al Foori, Director-General of Education in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate.
Oman’s school teams will compete in two categories, including boys’ futsal (5-a-side indoor football) and girls’ 3x3 basketball. Both teams have completed their preparations through intensive training camps organised in the lead-up to the tournament.
Nidhal al Mughairi, coach of the girls’ national 3x3 basketball team, expressed confidence in the players’ readiness.
“The team is fully prepared to compete after a comprehensive training programme that included physical and technical drills, as well as a dedicated camp aimed at raising readiness and sharpening skills. The players and technical staff have shown great commitment and fighting spirit throughout the preparation stage, reflecting our ambition to achieve positive results,” she said.
“We are confident in our players’ ability to deliver a performance that honours the name of our nation. We hope this participation will serve as another step forward in strengthening women’s basketball both regionally and internationally," she added.
Meanwhile, the futsal team, led by coach Salman al Madiouli and his assistant Sultan al Balushi, has also finalised its preparations through two training camps held in Muscat.
