The event will feature broad participation from more than 10 countries, in addition to over 10 local clubs, along with a selection of Omani athletes who have previously competed in regional and international tournaments. The bouts will be supervised by certified international referees, with a strong emphasis on athlete safety ensured by the presence of a specialised medical and advisory team for combat sports.

The championship will include matches across multiple categories and weight divisions, with performance evaluations determining the winners at the conclusion of the competition. The event is organised in collaboration with an Omani company specialising in combat sports events, as part of Sports Spark’s efforts to deliver a comprehensive and diverse sporting experience for both the public and participants.

Wadhah bin Abdullah al Harthy, founder of Scorpionest martial arts, explained that the organisation of the second edition of the 'Spark Fighting' Championship stems from a clear vision to incorporate combat sports into the Sport Spark event’s agenda for two main reasons. The first is to strengthen the presence of various martial arts in Oman and expand the base of practitioners across its different wilayats. The second is to support and empower young Omani talents by providing them with a competitive platform to showcase their abilities and skills before a wide audience under the supervision of international referees.

Al Harthy noted that there are more than 15 local clubs practicing martial arts in Oman, represented by over 50 young Omanis from various governorates, reflecting the growing interest in these sports among Omani youth. He emphasised that the championship is not limited to competition alone, but also serves as a space for growth and skill development, helping athletes build greater self-confidence in preparation for future participation in regional and international tournaments.

Stefan Milekic, co-founder of Scorpionest martial arts, stated that the second edition of the 'Spark Fighting' Championship will take place on August 8, and is expected to draw more than 600 spectators. He explained that the main objective of the championship is to encourage Omani youth to engage in martial arts and highlight their development and skills in the ring.

Milekic added that the championship will also feature fighters and athletes from outside the Sultanate, creating a unique blend of local and international talent. This will offer the audience the opportunity to witness intense bouts and high-level competition, where participants will demonstrate their true abilities in a professional and exciting atmosphere.

Khaled Oudeh Ghannam, Head of Judges and Referees for the Spark Fighting Championship (Edition 2), announced that this year’s event will feature an international panel of referees and judges with diverse experience from the UK, Austria, Iran, Jordan, Palestine, and the Sultanate of Oman.

He explained that the championship will follow the official rules of K-1 and the Glory organisation. Scoring will primarily be based on ring control, pressure, defence, and technical skill demonstrated during the bouts. Ghannam emphasised that the referees’ top priority is to ensure both the safety of the fighters and the integrity of the championship.
