Ittin Tunnel Project opened to traffic

Salalah --- The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) opened the Ittin Tunnel Project in Salalah to traffic at a cost of more than RO11 million as part of its efforts to develop infrastructure and strengthen the road network in Dhofar Governorate.


Engineer Saeed bin Mohammed Tabuk, Director General of the Directorate General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar Governorate, confirmed that the project has witnessed remarkable progress in its implementation, with the completion rate reaching approximately 97 percent, 24 percent ahead of the planned timetable. He pointed out that it was implemented by a local company, which reflects the competence of local and national companies in this field.


He explained that the project includes a road network exceeding 9 kilometers in length, including a 1.35-kilometer dual carriageway tunnel, the expansion of November 18 Street to include four lanes in each direction, extending 2.7 kilometers, in addition to the implementation of bypass roads in four directions with a total length of 1.3 kilometers, seven service roads, and entrances and exits to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic.
