Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a weather forecast for today indicating varying weather activity across the Sultanate.

As of this morning, skies are partly cloudy over the Central and Dhofar governorates, accompanied by low clouds, fog formation, and intermittent drizzle in parts of Dhofar. The remainder of Oman’s governorates are experiencing generally clear conditions, with high clouds passing over Musandam.

According to the latest forecast maps, scattered rainfall is expected across multiple regions, particularly over the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas. Some showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms, with estimated rainfall accumulations ranging from 2 mm to over 100 mm in isolated areas. The affected areas include Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and parts of Dhofar Governorate. The CAA has warned of potential flash floods in wadis and low-lying areas, occasional hail, and active downdraft winds associated with cumulus cloud development, which may reduce horizontal visibility and lead to flying debris in exposed places.

A separate advisory highlights intensified downdraft wind activity due to the formation of local convective clouds, particularly over Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Al Sharqiyah, and Al Wusta. This wind activity may cause a noticeable drop in visibility and the movement of unsecured objects.
