Weather alert: Thunderstorms expected across Governorates on Saturday

MUSCAT: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a weather alert warning of thunderstorm activity across various parts of the Sultanate on Saturday, 7 June.


The alert indicates the formation of thunderstorm clouds accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity, beginning at 11:00 AM and lasting until 7:00 PM.


According to the CAA, the affected areas include mountainous regions of the following governorates: Musandam, North and South Al Batinah, Muscat, North and South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, and Al Buraimi.


Rainfall is expected to range between 15 and 45 mm, with associated weather phenomena that warrant public caution. These include:


Downdraft winds reaching speeds of 20 to 45 knots


Flash floods in wadies


Poor horizontal visibility


Hail


The CAA has urged residents and citizens in the affected areas to stay alert and take necessary precautions, particularly when navigating wadies or exposed terrains.
