KUWAIT: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 25th meeting of GCC Ministers of Higher Education and Research, held in the State of Kuwait.


Oman's delegation was headed by Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.


The meeting discussed matters related to enhancing cooperation and integration among GCC states in the fields of higher education, research and innovation.


The meeting discussed common systems of higher education, innovation and entrepreneurship. It also dealt with standard methods of teaching and learning in higher education institutions, means of developing community partnerships and related regional and international ties and envisaging future growth in a manner that keeps pace with rapid updates.


The meeting also dealt with issues of digital transition and cybersecurity in higher education, upgrading the “Gulf Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education” and enhancing international cooperation.


The meeting reviewed the GCC Secretariat-General’s proposal to update the structure of committees and teams entrusted with higher education and research. It also looked into a proposal to incorporate the subject of “GCC citizenship” into the curricula of GCC higher education institutions. - ONA
