Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Sunday evening received a phone call from António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.
They discussed ongoing regional issues and developments.
The UN Secretary-General expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for the constructive role played by His Majesty and his government in supporting and facilitating efforts to achieve peace in the region and helping to de-escalate tensions. He pointed to the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts that led to the resumption of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the cessation of the armed conflict between the United States of America and the authorities in Sana’a in the Republic of Yemen.
The UN Secretary-General also praised the mediation efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman on the nuclear issue between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, expressing his strong support for these efforts to achieve international peace and security.
His Majesty emphasized to the UN Secretary-General that the Sultanate of Oman’s role is for the good and peace of all. His Majesty praised the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and the endeavours of the United Nations aimed at achieving peace and harmony for the entire humanity. — ONA
