The Consumer Protection Authority, represented by the Department of Market Regulation and Monitoring in Muscat Governorate, recently seized electronic cigarettes, electronic shisha and chewing tobacco in clear violation of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations. This comes as part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to monitor and control violations.

The details of the seizure reveal that the Authority’s inspection and control teams detected the sale of electronic cigarettes, electronic shisha and chewing tobacco at a commercial establishment in the Wilayat of Seeb, Muscat Governorate. After verifying the circulation of unlicensed products and confirming the violation, the necessary administrative measures were taken and the products were confiscated by the Authority’s judicial officers. A total of 265 electronic shisha devices and 110 packs of chewing tobacco were seized, in violation of the Consumer Protection Law, Administrative Decision No 756/2023 and Decision No 301/2016 amending Decision No 256/2015.

It is worth noting that the Authority continues its inspection and monitoring campaigns to ensure safe markets for consumers and to protect all their rights guaranteed under the provisions of the law. The Authority also urges consumers to report any violations through its various communication channels.
