Muscat: The Directorate General of Criminal Investigations has warned of a fraudulent method that has recently increased, in which perpetrators use a fake website similar to the official website of the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) to trap victims and obtain their personal and banking information. They then withdraw money from their accounts.

The Royal Oman Police stressed the need to verify the authenticity of websites, noting that the CPA does not request bank card information when completing transactions related to its services.
