The Arab League praised the diplomatic efforts and mediation led by the Sultanate of Oman that contributed to the recent ceasefire agreement in Yemen, in coordination with efforts by the United States.
In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, the Arab League expressed hope that the ceasefire will alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, de-escalate ongoing military tensions, and support wider diplomatic efforts to address regional crises, including the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
The League also highlighted the importance of restoring maritime security in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and ensuring the safe and uninterrupted flow of international trade through regional waterways.
The Arab League reaffirmed its commitment to the resolutions of the Arab League Council in support of Yemen’s legitimate government and its initiatives to preserve the unity and sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen.
