GCC official, Arab Parliament praise Oman's role in crew release

Riyadh/ Cairo: Jasem Mohamed al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary-General, praised the Sultanate of Oman’s mediation that led to the release of the crew of Galaxy Leader ship. The members of the crew, which consisted of 25 people of different nationalities, were detained off the Yemeni coast since November 2023. Al Budaiwi pointed out that those efforts reflect the Sultanate of Oman’s valuable role in supporting regional stability and security, besides highlighting the country’s firm commitment to regional and international cooperation to establish security in the region and ease tensions. The Arab Parliament also praised Sultanate of Oman's role that helped ship crew return home after more than one year. Mohammed bin Ahmed al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, expressed the Parliament’s appreciation for the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman and its steadfast role in mediation aimed at achieving security and stability in the region. He said the Arab Parliament hopes that this step will contribute to reducing tension and enhancing security and stability in the region.
