Muscat, May 7

The curtain falls on the 2024-25 Oman Professional League (Omantel League) on Thursday evening with a dramatic final round that promises excitement and tension especially at the bottom of the table, where the fierce fight for survival continues between Sohar and Ibri, after Sur were officially relegated earlier.

All six matches will kick off simultaneously at 7:15 pm to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all teams. The games will be held across six different stadiums and will not only decide the fate of the relegation battle but also feature the championship celebration in Seeb, along with teams seeking to improve their standings before the end of a long season.

League champions Seeb will host Al Nasr on home ground in a festive atmosphere as they celebrate their fourth league title. 'The Emperors' aim to cap off the season with a morale-boosting 17th win, having secured the title in the previous round with a 1-0 victory over Al Rustaq.

Al Nasr, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Al Khabourah and reach 30 points, potentially climbing to fourth place.

DO-OR-DIE CLASH IN SOHAR

Sohar host Oman Club in a must-win match at the Sohar Sports Complex. With just 21 points one above the relegation zone, Sohar need victory to survive. Oman Club, on the other hand, sit comfortably in third with 42 points and aim to end the season on a high.

Ibri will cling to survival hopes as they visit Al Khabourah at the Rustaq Sports Complex. Sitting second-to-last with 20 points, Ibri need a win and must hope for a slip-up from Sohar or Al Rustaq to avoid relegation. Al Khabourah (28 points) target a potential fourth-place finish with a strong result.

AL NAHDA CLINGS TO SECOND SPOT

Al Nahda face Al Rustaq at the Al Buraimi Sports Complex, aiming to secure second place with a 47-point finish, after their title hopes were dashed by Seeb’s last win. Al Rustaq, having already confirmed their place in the league next season, is seeking a seventh win that could lift them from ninth place (currently at 23 points).

Already relegated Sur will host Saham in a match of formality. Sur look to end their season with pride, while Saham (26 points) eye a fourth-place finish dependent on other results involving Al Shabab, Al Khabourah and Al Nasr.

At the Nizwa Sports Complex, Bahla will face Al Shabab in a match focused on improving standings. Al Shabab currently hold fourth place with 28 points and aim for a ninth win to stay ahead of their rivals. Bahla (25 points) have secured safety and will seek a strong finish.

The Oman Football Association previously announced an increase in the league's cash prizes this season to RO 130,000, distributed among first through sixth-place finishers. The champions will receive RO 50,000, runners-up RO 30,000, third place RO 20,000, fourth place RO 15,000, fifth place RO 10,000 and sixth place RO 5,000.
